There has been a bit of confusion in the sport about whether or not the JC qualification is a title but we hope that in time it will be. For now though, I'm so proud of what she has achieved - it is never my goal for my dogs to be the first or the youngest to achieve something, so I hope that this will inspire others to have a go at the sport if it gets off the ground in other states.
Squiggle was a bit slower than she has been in the past when she has lure coursed as she managed to break into the dog food container yesterday but she still did very well. Soakies was my surprise of the day though - she is not as prey driven as Squiggle and wouldn't chase the lure the whole way around the course at the last trial so she impressed me today with her runs. She walked away with 157 points, just behind Squiggle on 158.
I was also lucky enough to experience the difference between Sighthounds and other breeds first hand today as the Sighthound Huntmaster. It is absolutely amazing watching dogs whose original purpose was to course game showing their instinct and drive - while Squiggle and Soaks love lure coursing, it is just different watching the sighthounds and how they run. We can't wait until the next trial!
