Slinky has earned her championship in style with multiple classes in group and group shortlistings along the way! Though we’re going to cool it with the showing for a while, we’ll still be heading back out into the show ring on the odd occasion when we’re not at sports!
Today we headed down to Yass for the NSW Lure Coursing Association trial and sadly, Squiggle managed to do herself an injury, stepping on the line and getting a line burn in her rear paw pad. This is Squiggle’s first ever injury from performance sports and so, after having the vet have a look at her, we scratched her from the afternoon run. She probably would have run and may have quallied, even with her lacklustre performance but at the end of the day, her health is paramount to me and worth much more than a quallie.
We’re going to have a bit of a break while we get her paw pad fixed up, though the nature of the injury says that she will most likely need a couple of months off! In the meantime, we’ll be doing some low impact training and of course, keeping on top of Squiggle’s conditioning so she’s ready to get back out there when her paw has healed.
