I had been tossing up whether to actually enter her in this year's ET for quite a while, knowing it was only 3 months after the birth of her babies. Luckily, we had done a lot of work getting Squiggle into great condition before her litter, so in the end, I decided to put her in and make the final decision closer to the test. A trip to our lovely vet, Dr Penny on Wednesday confirmed what I had believed all along - Squiggle is in peak condition and with a slow resting heart rate, is also very fit! Despite carrying and popping out 7 babies, Squiggle hasn't lost any of her core strength either so with a clean bill of health and our vet's blessing, we decided to go for it!
Squiggle's heart rate and temperature barely elevated above her pre-test rate during the entire 20kms and while I was absolutely dead after the first 8kms due to my bike tyres deflating, Squiggle was ready to keep going, breezing through the rest of the test without a problem. Luckily we had a spare bike lined up for disasters like the one I experienced, so the last 12kms was a walk in the park compared to the first 8! Squiggle completed the test, ready for more. Pending Dogs NSW approval, she will now be known as Ch. Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) HT ET FDX.
Just as exciting was the news from Victoria today that Squiggle's litter brother Lumi (Ch. Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CCD JD) earned the final qualification he needed for his Jumping Dog (JD) title! Go Lumi!
