With Christmas done and dusted for another year, we decided to head out to the Dogs NSW Library & Archives Champ Show tonight. While Slinky didn’t win anything of note, Squiggle took out Runner Up to Best Neuter in Group under judge Mrs M. Markotany (Vic). Tonight was our final shows of the year and I really couldn’t be happier with how the year ended. Both girls are loving their time in the show ring, and while I don’t think I’ll ever prioritise the show ring over sports, it has been a nice run! Hopefully 2017 will be as good a year for us!
With Solo, Dexter and Soakies with me on holiday in Sydney, we decided to head out to the Dogs NSW Christmas Show tonight. Though we didn’t take anything of note, Squiggle walked away with a neuter of breed over Ahsoka and Solo took minor of breed over Slinky and then runner up to best of breed! It’s always nice to see the younger dogs take it over older competition, and I was super proud of Solo, especially considering the fact that he has never shown for me before! Nik keeps telling me that he’s a little naughty in the ring but maybe he just needs to come and show with me permanently ;)
It’s not often that dogs are allowed to attend the movies but last night was one of them – Slinky, Squiggle and I, along with some friends and their dogs spent the night watching The Secret Life of Pets at the Moonlight Cinema at Centennial Park. Squiggle showed off her trick of weaving between my legs and managed to win us a copy of the movie DVD and we were interviewed by Pedestrian TV, the second little bit of Pawformance in the media in only a couple of days, after Squiggle’s photo was featured in the Huffington Post earlier on in the week!
Today we headed out to another quick show, this time at the NSW Women’s Dog Club show where we had an absolute cracker of a night with Slinky taking best of breed and her first class in group under judge Mrs. L Brandt (NSW). Squiggle, not to be outdone, earned herself a fringie ribbon too, taking out Runner Up to Best Neuter in Group!
Both girls showed like absolute stars and I was so proud of them both!
Though it was a little warm today, it was promising to be much cooler on the coast so we headed down to Wollongong for the Wollongong Wonder Woofs Summer Woofs Flyball Competition.
Squiggle’s team, the Southern Cross Pulsars did brilliantly today, earning a 2nd place in division 3 (on countback) and running largely clean all day!!
We ended the day by meeting Leah and Wookie for an awesome run on the beach. The girls had an absolute blast and got very wet and sandy for the ride home (and yes, we did swing through the McDonalds drivethru for some celebratory nuggies).
Today was our last trial of the year, spending the day having fun doing agility games. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best for a black floof, so Soaks melted pretty badly from the heat! There were some really fun courses today but unfortunately Soaks just didn't have her heart in it. I stupidly forgot to bring any of our cooling gear today, but we managed to borrow a towel to wet and place over Soaks to try and help her cope. Thankfully it worked and we ended up qualifying in Novice Strategic Pairs! That was the last quallie Soaks needed for SPD, gaining her third agility title in the last month!
Dexter had a lovely day at his first agility trial today! He was just a spectator, but took everything in his stride and even showed that he could tug under distraction. I'm very pleased with how well he has coped with all these new environments! It's a lot to take in and he is doing very well!
Solo also had a lovely day, with an unplanned catch up with his brother, Loki and with their breeder!
